blog type thing
maybe expect me to talk about some photos? what ive been up to lately? i dunno. well see :)
Bishop Pass to Bishop Lake
well, i finally said “screw it, if i get mauled by a bear, oh well” and went on my first solo back packing trip. disclaimer: im not a blogger, or not even a decent public speaker so hang on tight for my horrible story telling.
it started off 6am on a wednesday. packed some of the last necessities i needed for the trip and set off 4 hours north to bishop.
the hike ended up clocking in at just under 10 miles RT, 1,700 ft gain. i was in no way conditioned for this and my pack was a bit heavier than it should’ve been, i definitely got what i asked for. i think there were about a total of 5 lakes i passed by? there is definitely more to see if you’d like to. 2 hours into the hike thunder storms rolled in with the rain. the rain didn’t phase me until i hit 12,000 ft elevation since the temperatures dropped drastically. it definitely worried me that my camera was getting soaked. shout out to weather sealing… but still. I ended up using a dry bag and tied it around the whole body.
so like I said, a few lakes later, clothes all soaked I decided to stay at bishop lake. It was still storming pretty bad when I started to set up the tent. It flew away from me a few times. despite the trouble setting up a tent in a storm, I found a sweet secluded campsite that fell into all of the requirements stated from INF. I was lucky enough to have an open view of a sweet granite rock garden, some really colorful marshes, and then of course - the sierras.
After setting up I decided to take a nap until the storm calmed down just enough to be able to walk around.
the storm cleared up just enough to get that sweet peachy sunlight for sunset
Boiled some water and ate some Back Packers Pantry’s creamy beef pasta. Heard sticking with pastas and staying away from the egg meals was the best thing to do when it comes to freeze dried meals.
ended the night with shooting some photos. these photos really surprised me with still be able to get the peach sunlight on Cloud Ripper, along with being able to see the stars. Definitely was a sight to see after hiking through the rain and thunderstorms.
that pretty much summed up my trip.
